On April Fools Day The White Horse hosted it's second art bazaar alongside it's first beer festival. Heres a few photographs that were taken over the festival.

We finally got packed away at 11:30 and the bar staff were still busy washing glasses! I think the next bazaar will be on the evening / night time of the 25th of June which is also Midsummers Day. I met Jan at our first bazaar in December 2009, I loved her work, and I was super impressed when she mentioned she was working on a children's book about Birmingham. Her book THIS IS BIRMINGHAM is available now on Amazon at a reasonable £6.99!

From the 1st of April Jan's work will be adorning our walls on a more permanent basis & full colour prints will be on sale: prices start at just £15!

Lynn Butler

Lynn Butler's photography explores the contrast between city living and life in the countryside. Her work explores the local area, reminding us city livers that the countryside is never far away.

Lynn's photography, being hand signed and produced in-house, offers more personalised art work for the walls, at a reasonable price and ticks the box for local interest.

I am really excited that Dirty Pretty will be taking part in Art Jest, they have requested space for a 6 ft clothes rail so I am guessing there's going to be a lot of items to choose from, I had better start saving the pennies!

Beer Fest

From Thursday the 1st of April to Tuesday the 6th of April The White Horse will host its first ever beer festival. There will be more than 30 ales on sale over the festival and up to 20 on at one time. Closer to the time we will publish a list detailing exactly what ales we have in the cellar, there will also be the launch of the new Sadler's Ale!

Name A Beer Competition: This week we have got a mystery ale on Sale. The person who can come up with the best name for the beer will win a 'Brew A Beer Day' at Sadler's. The last day for entries will be Friday the 18th of March so get thinking!

The winner will be announced on Thursday the 1st of April when the new Sadler's ale will be on sale.

From the 1st to the 6th of April The White Horse in Harborne will host its second art bazaar alongside it's first beer festival. Local paintings, prints and photography will be on display over the Easter bank holiday weekend until Tuesday the 6th of April. Local craft and fashion will also be on sale throughout the day on Thursdays the 1st of April.

A Christmas Bazaar 2009

On Monday 7th December 2009 The White Horse in Harborne hosted its first of many art bazaars. 'A Christmas Bazaar' took the opportunity to bring original artwork and unique gifts for christmas into a warm and friendly environment. On Monday the 7th of December from 12 noon till 11:00 pm The White Horse was transformed into a space that local artists and designers could use to display, sell and promote their work.

Stalls sold a range of inexpensive artworks, jewellery, cards, crafts & textiles created by local artists from varying age groups and different artistic backgrounds. My main objective when organising this event was to bring more local artwork into pubs.

Colin Marlow, The White Horse's previous manager of 12 years, become co-owner of the business in October 2009 and he is keen to build on the reputation of one of the oldest pubs in Harborne, as the place to be and a place where customers can experience something different. We are hopeful that the new direction of the pub will keep customers retuning to see the latest exhibition or event whilst enjoying a night out at their local. Artists and designers are encouraged to approach the pub with work for exhibition and express any interest in taking part with the bazaars. For free of course!
